About Us

Welcome to Uganda Origins!

Uganda Origins

Uganda Origins is a family-owned safari provider offering customized safaris to fit every budget.

Owner Scott McMillan was born in Austin, Texas, and has been fascinated by Africa since childhood. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin University in 1996 with a degree in forestry and wildlife management. After working in various roles in Uganda, he founded his own safari company alongside his Ugandan wife, Josely.

Uganda Origins blends the relaxed African style with the American “can-do” attitude, resulting in exciting, educational, and captivating safaris for every budget.

Whether you want to visit the famous mountain gorillas or embark on extensive bird-watching safaris, your safari in Uganda will undoubtedly remain a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

What makes Uganda Origins different from other safari providers?

  • We’re the only safari company in Uganda whose owner has firsthand knowledge of the mountain gorillas in Bwindi National Park—Scott McMillan spent years helping count these animals in the jungle.
  • We’re one of the few safari companies offering luxury tent camping safaris (for up to 2 people). This is perfect for couples seeking a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle in remote national parks—without sacrificing comfort.

What we offer you

  • We provide customized safaris, meaning each client’s interests and personality come first for us.
  • We stay in constant contact with you via phone or email to help organize the perfect trip.
  • We first listen to your ideas and then make suitable suggestions; we combine these two elements to create an ideal safari for you.
  • We’re not the most expensive safari company in Uganda—and we’re proud of that.
  • We leverage our specialized knowledge and years of experience in Uganda to offer our clients a wonderful journey at a fair price. As our relatives in Texas would say: “A fair deal.”

It doesn’t matter whether you’ve never been to Africa before or are already a seasoned Africa expert.

Simply get in touch with us, and let’s create the trip of a lifetime together.

Our top safaris

Mountain gorilla in Uganda

For those who have never been to Uganda, it can be quite challenging to figure out what the country has to offer. Drawing on his years of experience as a safari guide, Scott has designed two top-notch safaris—both of which can be flexibly tailored to your preferences.

The Southwest Safari: Kibale, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Bwindi National Park, Lake Mburo National Park (7 to 12 days)

This is our most popular safari—and for good reason! It takes you through some of the most beautiful regions in Uganda. Not only scenically, but you’ll also visit three of Uganda’s five major kingdoms: Buganda, Toro, and Ankole. When it comes to wildlife, this safari is unmatched.
