Uganda’s Economy: On the Way Up
Uganda’s economy is, in international comparison, of course very small. What matters, however, is that for more than a quarter of a century work has been carried on purposefully on improving the economic framework conditions.
The largest sector, as in most African states, is agriculture. Nevertheless, there is trade in mineral resources and also in industrially manufactured products. The oil deposits on Lake Albert have been extracted since 2026 and exported via the EACOP pipeline; Uganda’s crude oil is marketed internationally as “Pearl Sweet”. The reserves were last estimated at around 1.65 billion barrels.
What is certain, however, is that there is great growth potential in tourism. For it is precisely here that the country’s supposed “backwardness” turns out to be an advantage for Uganda.
Where else can you explore the beauty of a pristine African country under comparably safe conditions?
