Outlook: Uganda’s Start into the Future

Children are the future of Uganda The prospects for Uganda have never been better. The economy is growing by around 6% per year (2024: 6.1%; 2025: 6.3%), the inflation rate and indebtedness are relatively low, and the HIV rate has recently fallen significantly (prevalence among 15- to 49-year-olds: 4.9% in 2024; new infections down by 61% since 2010). And through growing tourism, even more foreign currency could flow into the country in the coming years and further drive development.

Since compulsory schooling was introduced, the share of education in the population has been growing rapidly. Around 43% of the population is younger than 15 (World Bank 2025). It is therefore clear: the future of the country lies in the hands of its children and young people.
