Uganda has a long and eventful history with highs and lows behind it. The country was already inhabited in prehistoric times, and owing to its geographically isolated location it only belatedly connected with the world. Colonialists and missionaries were followed by independence. But it did not lead into a free democracy, but into the chaotic dictatorships of Amin and Obote. Only the liberation by President Museveni, who still governs today, brought stability and connection with the world community.
Even today Uganda is indeed one of the poorest countries in the world. But compared with most other African states it is on a steep and stable path upwards!
