Please bear in mind: food, accommodation and other costs are sometimes dirt cheap. So invest the money you save in a good car, ideally with a Ugandan driver! That way your safari in Africa still remains affordable, and you save yourself a great deal of inconvenience and trouble. On your individually planned trip, a reliable car – ideally with a reliable driver straight away – is the decisive factor for the “success” of your stay in Uganda. Budget for this as a major item of your travel costs. A European-standard off-road vehicle with a driver currently costs about 100 to 200 dollars per day, depending on the vehicle and the season; self-drive vehicles are available from around 70 dollars. In our database we present the providers in Kampala who offer you off-road and road vehicles. For most providers the following applies:
- Many vehicles are hired with a driver only. The stated price then already includes this.
- With most providers, prices differ according to use “inside” and “outside” Kampala. So for a safari into one of the national parks you pay more than for using the vehicle within the capital.
A driver can certainly be an advantage. After all, he gets you safely from place to place and you can relax and enjoy your holiday. This is especially true if you yourself are not used to driving on the left.
