The Kigezi National Park in the south-west of Uganda (Rukungiri District) was upgraded from a wildlife reserve to a national park in September 2025; previously it had been protected as Kigezi Wildlife Reserve since 1952.
At around 265 km² it forms an important savannah corridor between Queen Elizabeth National Park and the Ishasha sector. Elephants, buffaloes and antelopes migrate along it; the birdlife ranges from the grey crowned crane to the Ruwenzori turaco.
Game drives, birdwatching and nature walks are possible, as well as encounters with the communities at the edge of the park. It is around 400 kilometres from Kampala.
